Kevin Maloney has been an adult mentor here at St. Timothy for 3 years.  He is a graduate of the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio with a Bachelor in both Communications and Theology.  He currently is a Sr. Account Executive at VC3, a Managed IT & Cybersecurity Company.  Most of his life he lived in New England including CT, MA & NH, when he moved the family to Tampa, in 2020. He is married to Kristen Joy, an Edge Mentor, for 25 years.  He is a father of 6 children: John Paul and Kolbe, both Marines, Theresa, Elizabeth, Benedict and Felicity.  He also has a new grandson, Leo!  His favorite bible verse is Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  In his high school years, he had a conversion.  He will never forget the youth ministers and mentors who were there for him, sharing their faith, and being a part of his life.  He has felt called to share his faith with the youth and show them that they are loved.  His favorite part of mentoring is spending time with the teens and seeing their faith grow.  The students are open to learning about what we believe and why we believe.  One of the things that has impacted Kevin is how the teens praise and worship or pray in silence in Adoration.  There is nothing more powerful than seeing the youth pray.  If you feel a call to serve in youth ministry, he wants you to know that the youth need people who will be there for them.  Most youth ministry is just about showing up.  If you are willing to show up every week and you love Christ and sharing His Word, then God may be calling you!

Lillie Holman has been a Jr. Mentor for the last year.  She is a junior and attends the Academy of Holy Names.  She loves spending time with her family, going out with friends, being at the beach and staying active!  She is a cheerleader and involved in many clubs because she loves to meet new people and have new experiences.  She has a close-knit family with her parents, brother Jack, a bunny named Jellybean, and a fish named Rex.  Her favorite bible verse is “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity ” (Timothy 4:12).  She was inspired by her close family friends, Abbey & Emily Bennett, (who were very involved in our youth program for years) to become involved in youth group.  Lillie enjoys speaking to others about her faith and felt called to expand her faith-filled friendships.  Her favorite part of junior mentoring is talking with her small group of girls about the faith and how much it means to them in their daily lives.  She also loves the retreat and giving testimonies/talks to inspire others!  This year she was a leader of a small group of 8th grade girls who opened up to her and shared their struggles and often asked for advice from her.  It has been especially meaningful for Lillie because they have become the little sisters she never had!  The girls always make her proud to be their mentor!  Volunteering has helped her to grow in her relationship with Christ, develop amazing new friendships, gain leadership and listening skills, and given her a supportive community that she can always turn to for help or to share good news.  If she were to encourage someone who might be thinking about mentoring, she would say to go for it!  You will never realize the impact being involved can have on your life and you will grow so much as a person.  Pray to God to have courage and know he will never desert you on your faith journey.  She has loved every moment at St. Tim’s and can say with absolute certainty that this past year has been one of her best!
