The Marriage Course For Lent
Instead of “giving up something” for Lent this year, why not do something “positive” by enhancing & enriching your marriage in the process? We will be offering the seven-week Marriage Course (TMC) each Tuesday evening from 7:30-9:30 p.m. starting 2/13, which coincides with Lent. The course will be conducted via Zoom, so you can talk openly about the discussion topics in the privacy of your own home.

WHO IS IT FOR?
The Marriage Course (TMC) is for couples who are seeking to strengthen their relationship. Whether you have been married 6 months or 60 years, whether in a good place or struggling, the online course helps couples navigate the modern challenges in a marriage. TMC is designed to help couples build strong foundations, learn to communicate more effectively, and resolve differences well.
Some couples do the course to intentionally invest in their relationship, others are looking to address more specific challenges. Either way, the course offers essential tools and practical ideas to help you build a relationship that lasts a lifetime.
The Marriage Course is based on Christian principles but designed for all couples with or without a church background. The Marriage Course is open to parishioners of St. Timothy AND non-parishioners that live near or far. All are welcome to join us!
The course equips couples with tools and techniques to keep the spark alive and stay connected. There is no group work and each couple’s conversations are completely private. Over seven sessions, the course will help you to:
• Understand each other’s needs
• Communicate more effectively
• Grow closer by learning methods to resolve conflict
• Recover from the ways you may have hurt each other
• Recognize how your upbringing affects your relationship
• Improve relationships with parents and in-laws
• Develop greater sexual intimacy
• Discover each other’s “love language” and much, much more….
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?
1. Time to connect
Since the course is held online, we suggest setting a romantic date night atmosphere. Light a candle in the room where you are meeting. Gather a few special drinks or snacks to share together. We will have a 5 to 15-minute window where guests can log on and chat to each other before the session begins each evening.
2. Watch episode
The entire night is around 90 minutes with around 45 minutes for the talks and 45 minutes in breaks for conversations. Each episode explores a different topic through real experiences, expert insights, and relevant teaching. Study Journals help your private conversations to grow.
3. Talk privately
Space to have private, intimate conversations is a must for every course. It helps enable couples to engage openly and honestly throughout the session.
4. Study journals
Your Study Journal is a small handbook that corresponds with the topics of each session, guiding couples’ conversations, prompting discussions, and allowing plenty of space for couples to make their own notes. The Study Journal is created as a tool used to help the couples reflect on their relationship and the meaning of marriage, as well as to facilitate conversations between them. The Journal is for each guest to keep once the course has finished.
Every person who attends The Marriage Course needs to have their own personal copy of the Study Journal. Please pick up your Study Journals (2) at St. Timothy Catholic Church Parish Office
